Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is the prefect destination to look for multiplicity of flora and fauna in India. Located in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh, the sanctuary lies at a distance of 50 km from Mancherila and 260 km from Hyderabad. It was established in 1964 with the purpose of safeguarding the endangered species in their natural habitat. Owing to its bio-diversity, the haven was declared as a wildlife sanctuary later.
 
  Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is visited by number of tourists every year. It has two watch towers, which offer stunning view of the surroundings. Sprawled across an area of 893 sq kms, the sanctuary boasts of a dry deciduous forest where teak, bamboo and numerous varieties of trees, shrubs and herbs can be seen. It houses various animals, including Sambar, Cheetal, Nilgai, Barking Deer, Indian Bison, Sloth Bear, Panther and Tiger.

Winter season offers the best time to visit the sanctuary because the weather gets too dry in summers and too humid in monsoons. You can also opt for jeep safari, while having a closer, yet safer, view of the wildlife, to make your trip more interesting. Accommodation is also available here with the Forest Guest House. In concise, Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is a nice place to experience adventure and thrill, mingled with enjoyment.

Pranahita Wild Life Sanctuary The sanctuary owes its name from the river Pranahita, a tributary of Godavari, which flows besides the forest. The best season to visit there is November to March.

Pranahita Wildlife Sanctuary in South India is packed with wild animals and birds that make the place thrilling to the tourists. Teak trees are the main plants in this Sanctuary.
 
  Among the animals there are Indian Porcupines, Nilgai, Sloth Bear, Tiger, Leopard, Forest Cats, Langur, Rhesus, Palm Civet, Indian Otter, Wild Dogs and Hyena.

The Coringa Wild Life Sanctuary is most famous for the reptiles it houses, the renowned ones being the salt-water crocodiles.

October to May is the best time to visit the Coringa Wild Life Sanctuary. There is a Forest Rest House in Coringa where you can stay put on your visit to the Sanctuary.

Reptiles: The Reptile section has Pythons, Snakes, Land Tortoises, Terrapins, Water Monitor Lizards, Monitor Lizards etc.,

Herbivores: Elephant, Bison, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Nilgai, Barking Deer and Thamin Deer are in the collection.

Aves: Varied collection of birds from the Eastern Ghats in the large walk-through aviaries is a special attraction of the zoo.

How to get there:
By Air - it is connected with Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Bhubaneshwar. Indian Airlines flies daily to Hyderabad and five times a week toChennai, New Delhi and Kolkata.

By Road - by road Visakhapatnam is 650 km from Hyderabad and 350 km from Vijayawada. Regular bus services are available to Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai and Tirupati.

By Rail - Visakhapatnam is a major junction on the commercially important Chennai Kolkata rail line. As such the city is well connected to all the major cities of the country by rail like New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

This lake plays an important role in the ecological system. It is a natural reservoir that controls flood for two rivers. This lake is connected to the Krishna and Godavari systems by 30 inflowing drains and channels.
 
  Extending over 673 km² of area, Kolleru Lake which is now more famous as Kolleru Lake Bird Sanctuary abounds in various flora and fauna.

Sanctuary you will find numerous migratory birds from Australia, Siberia, Egypt and Philippines.

It is in the months of October and March that the lake area remains full with migratory birds like Open Bill Storks, Painted Storks, Glossy Ibises, White Ibises, Teals, Pintails, Shovellers, Red-Crested Pochards, Blackwinged Stilts, Avocets, Common Redshanks, Wigeons, Gadwalls and Cormorants, among others.

How to get there:
Kolleru Lake Bird Sanctuary is easily accessible from the four sides of the lake by road. These sides are; Atapaka, Murthyraju tank, Gudivakalanka and Vijayawada. However, the nearest city to the sanctuary is Vijayawada.
